We Strive to Positively Act on Facts
Environmentally-friendly packing has been a priority of our company from the beginning. Over the years, we have painstakingly researched and evaluated the best way to package our balms resulting in the least impact on the Earth.
As we continue to grow, we aspire to be an example in the industry with our environmentally-friendly packaging.
Our first balm packaged was our lip balm. During our initial consumer research, we learned that lip balm is strongly preferred in a tube. We knew that in order to grow our small company, we had to listen to our consumer. There was no getting away from using plastic. Yet all
hope was not lost! A larger tube was located, which meant more balm, less
packaging, less labels, less energy used, less shipping and less carbon.
Beyond these impressive and important benefits, our consumer also will spend less - in the initial purchase and in the long-run! The Seriously Big Lip Balm's groovy tube is 3.5 times bigger than typical lip balm tubes and at least 3.5 times less likely to be lost!
Our next line of balms included Boo-Boo Balm, Joint Balm, Piggy Relief Balm and Booty Balm. Originally they were each packaged in glass jars. In the summer of 2009, we decided that although glass
seemingly is easy to recycle, we would move our balms to tin containers for a few reasons - ease of application, and; in the event that the tin is not recycled it will take
much less time to biodegrade (950 years)!
We emphasize the importance to recycle our containers, yet
it is commonly forgotten that in the recycling process we create waste.
Reduction of waste is ultimately most important. In a world of excess and
dollar stores, we suggest that everyone give true consideration as to what is a true need.
